Embarking on a pilot career is a big decision. We've compiled the most essential information to help you navigate your journey with confidence.

To become a pilot, one must first complete theoretical (Ground Classes) and practical training (Flight Training), as well as pass written exams and flying tests. After completing the training successfully, all training records and exam results are submitted to the licensing authority (DGCA in India) for the issuance of a Commercial Pilot Licence.

To enrol in the Pilot Training course, you must have completed Class 10+2 (or equivalent) with Math and Physics as compulsory subjects. If you are from a different stream (Commerce/Arts), you can still enroll by clearing the NIOS (National Institute of Open Schooling) exams for Math and Physics.

Pilot Training consists of several examinations overseen by the DGCA. The core written exams include Air Regulations, Air Navigation, Aviation Meteorology, and Technical General. Additionally, there are specific technical exams for the aircraft you fly. You must also pass the RTR (Radio Telephony Restricted) license exam administered by the WPC.

Before starting your course, you need a Class II Medical assessment from a DGCA-approved doctor. Eventually, for the issuance of your Commercial Pilot License (CPL), a Class I Medical assessment is mandatory. We recommend getting this checked early in the process.

Typically, the CPL training can be completed in 10 to 12 months. This timeline depends on individual aptitude, clearing the written exams on time, and weather conditions for flight training. Vayudoot's structured program aims to optimize this timeline.

Aviation offers a rewarding career. Entry-level Commercial Pilots (Junior First Officers) in India typically start with a salary package of INR 1.5 Lakh to 2.5 Lakh per month. Experienced Captains can earn upwards of INR 5 Lakh to 8 Lakh per month. Senior airline roles offer even higher compensation packages along with other industry perks.
